2014 saw the 150th Anniversary of the Adaminaby Races with the Governor-General, His excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove attend the race meeting and perform the official opening of the day.
Dr Peter Hendy MP, The Hon. John Barilaro MP and Local girl and Sunrise presenter Samantha Armytage where also there to share in the milestone event. Sam Armytage and Lady Cosgrove judged the Fashions on the Field.
In his welcome speech, President Lynley Miners thanked the committees, the volunteers and sponsors large and small, over the past 150 years, that has made this occasion possible. And a special thank you to everyone who has worked hard and dedicated their time to make this 150th anniversary a great day.
Lynley explained it was in the 1950s that the old town of Adaminaby was flooded to make way for Lake Eucumbene and the new town was born. This necessitated the relocation of the town and of course with it the racecourse. A new site was found for the racecourse and the grandstand and out buildings were moved, intact, to this new site. They still stand today and look as glorious as they always have.
